After much practice and two audition camps in the fall of 2004, I was accepted into the Glassmen Drum & Bugle Corps as a member of the front ensemble. The division I corps is based in Toledo, Ohio, and tours the midwest every summer from May to August while performing over 50 shows to a combined 500,000 drum corps fans!!! Each competition leads up to the World Championships which are held in early August. Check out this article, "What is drum corps?" to learn more. It's written by Emily Tannert, a former Glassmen pit member, who was on the road this summer with the Glassmen as a member of the administrative staff. This past 2005 season, the Glassmen performed their show, "A New World," based on the themes of Dvorak's 9th Symphony in a modern setting. We had the opportunity to perform on Finals night of the Drum Corps International World Championships with the top 12 corps, and we placed 11th out of 25 division I corps! My DCI.org interview was posted on the Drum Corps International website in January of 2006. If you're interested, here's the link: The DCI.org interview: Maureen "Mo" Longo, Glassmen pit member
The 2006 Glassmen show is entitled, "Beethoven: Mastery and Madness." Check out our schedule on the website and I'd love to see you at a show!
