Opinion is really the actual expression of attitudes, values and beliefs. Since individuals are not "blank slates", the question becomes: "How do people acquire their attitudes, values, beliefs and opinions?".

The answer: they acquire these things via a process known as:

political socialization

The agents of socialization:

1) family
2) friends and peers
3) school
4) the media
