Report on Party Organization

The National Election Commission (NEC) of Ruritania has developed a way for citizens to explore the nature of party activity in each of the country's electoral districts. As the electoral system rewards success within electoral units, citizens need to know the activity of the party in each district. Activity means:  organization, research, and advertising.  One of the keys to understanding politics in the country is to understand how well-organized (or unorganized) the parties are in each of the 11 electoral districts of the country.  Utilizing information on the expenditures by each party in the district, as well as an average amount spent per party in the district, the NEC has been able to rate the level or strength of party organizational activities of each of the parties in each of the districts.  The data may be accessed through the link "Go to Report Data" at the bottom of this page.  Before accessing this page, please read the additional information in the Interpretation Box Below:

Interpreting the Data

For each district, the average expended per district is in parentheses next to the name of the district.  This is a summary figure obtained by adding all the expenditures for organization by every party and dividing by 10 (the total number of parties).  As each party knows how much it has expended, it can thus determine whether it has spent more or less than the average of other parties.

In each district report, the level of party organizational activity is characterized as anything from extremely well-organized to unorganized.  This information is designed to given citizens an indication of which parties are the most organized and which the lest organized in each electoral district. Within each category, the parties are listed alphabetically, not in relation to the amount they have each expended.  Due to the uneven expenditures in each district, what a party expends in one district does not necessarily make them attain the same level in another district.  For example and expenditure of 20,000 in two different districts might make you well-organized in a district in which many have chosen not to organize and unorganized in a district in which many parties have chosen to organize.  Thus, your position could change drastically as parties make additions to their organization over the remainder of the campaign.
