Presidential Character

The notion associated with James David Barber's classic study, The Presidential Character: Predicting Performance in the White House, which identifies character as how a president orients himself toward life.  Using the concepts of energy and enjoyment to develop a four-fold typology, Barber generates four character types which help to understand presidential behavior in office.
