Fastdraw, other than the people and western wear involved, has four major elements. This first is a single action six shot revolver, Second is the custom leather holster to draw the gun from, third is a metal target capable of sensing a hit by a wax bullet or the breaking of a balloon and fourth is an electron timer capable of measuring time to 1/1000th of a second.
Guns come in a wide variety of sizes and style but those used in the old west when traditional gunfight took place was limited to medium to small bore single action revolver with a 4 ½" barrel. In fastdraw, it is acceptable to use a .45 caliber single action revolver down through .22 caliber single action revolver bored out to discharge a .38 caliber wax bullet. Some fast draw guns are altered to meet these specifications and become unable to fire live ammunition any longer.
Holster are specially hand made to suit the individual shooter.
