The profession of dietetics has been an
interesting and challenging career for me. From the moment
I experienced patient care during my dietetic internship at
Miami Valley Hospital, clinical dietetics became a passion.
While teaching nutrition, it is my desire to also convey
that passion for nutrition and the opportunities that are
available in this field.
My family is the foundation of my
life. I have a daughter and two sons, all of whom are
married and live here in Ohio. In all, there are seven
grandchildren, five boys and two girls. In addition, there
is Luca, my spoiled and somewhat hyper Springer Spaniel, who
walks me daily so that I stay “fit”.
Five years ago I began an annual trip
to Italy, taking students to study the Mediterranean diet
and the culture of family and food in that country. This
program has enabled me to build relationships with
individuals in Italy, and it has been very gratifying to
return each year to the hugs and kisses of my Italian
colleagues. The project has also forced me to study Italian
language, which has been quite a challenge. |
