Advising Information:

Academic:

Students will be expected to meet with their advisor at least once each

semester to assure timely completion of their academic requirements.  It is the responsibility of the student to schedule an                         appointment.

Career:

Often students begin their college careers with some confusion about what

they want to do for “the rest of their lives”.    As a result, some students change their major several times in the first year or two and find it impossible to graduate at the end of four years.  Before making a change it is advisable that the student meet with his or her advisor who may be able to direct the student in a direction that will be more efficient.

Dietetic Internship:

Students who are seeking careers in nutrition and dietetics will be urged to complete a dietetic internship.  In order to become licensed in most states and to compete for the most desirable jobs, the Registered Dietitian credential is very important.  Dietetic internships are normally 6 to 11 months in length and are usually considered to be equal to another year of school.  Some internships include some master’s level classes and there are some that include a master’s degree in a two-year program.

The application process for the internship programs is extensive and the process itself is competitive.  Here at UD we set time aside to help the students through the process.  The placement rate of students from our program in the last eight years has been 97%.
