Text: Numerical Analysis, 2nd Edition, by Kincaid and Cheney (Brooks/Cole).

Prerequisites: CPS 132 or 150 or equivalent; MTH 219 or equivalent.

Course Content: Interpolating functions, numerical differentiation, numerical integration including Gaussian quadrature, numerical solutions of initial value problems for ordinary differential equations, with methods including Taylor series methods, multistep methods and extrapolation methods, introduction to solutions of boundary value problems for ordinary differential equations.

Format: Lecture.

Forms of Evaluation: in class mid term and final exams (40%), regularly assigned problem sets (40%), programming assignments (20%).
