Welcome to my HSS 226 Web site!Be sure to take my survey. It will only take a few minutes. Throughout history, people have looked for ways to get maximal gain for minimal effort. For example, many athletes have used steroids to illegally enhance sport performance. There was such an overwhelming number of steroid users at the 1972 Olympics that the problems and controversies created at that time remain unresolved today. Locus of control is a construct that describes the extent to which one feels empowered to affect what happens to him/her. An individual can have either an internal or external locus of control. For example, an individual with an external locus of control may feel their actions and lifestyle habits will have little effect on their health status whereas an individual with an internal locus of control may feel their actions and lifestyle habits will directly affect their health status. The purpose of this website is to determine if there is an association between locus of control and steroid usage. Preliminary Results: not yet approved
