Choose a research topic of
Artificial Intelligence from the list below.
Read and synopsize two articles
relating to this topic. This entails:
1. read at least two journal articles on the topic
2. write a short term paper (4 pages) in your own words describing the topic
3. Create a one-page class handout for your classmates to work on during your talk. This could be blanks for them to fill in, small problems, examples for them to do, or other “active” learning activities.
4. write a software simulation of some aspect of the topic OR build demonstration object in hardware
5. present your paper in a 10-15 minute Powerpoint presentation to the class
6. demonstrate your simulation or demonstration object to the class in a 5-10 minute demo
7. Submit term paper, Powerpoint slides, simulation/demonstration object
.
Submission:
1. Full Bibliographic entries for each of the articles (this may be included at the end of the respective synopsis)
2. A paper surveying your chosen topic. This should describe
· the area of Artificial Intelligence under which the topic falls,
· a basic explanation of the area: statement of the problem it attempts to solve or the area of artificial intelligence that it attempts to improve or change
· what has been done (the major developments or ideas),
· what is currently being done
· remaining open questions in the area
Your survey may use other sources if necessary such as other articles, textbooks, journals, etc. Include a bibliography of all sources used. Your paper should be typed, double-spaced, and stapled. Submit your final paper, the journal articles, and the bibliographic entries in a folder with pockets.
3. A one-page class handout on your topic. This must be turned in one class day early so I can get the photocopies made for the class.
4. Project Submission using the guidelines for class projects this semester
5. Powerpoint slides of oral presentation (both electronic and hardcopy form)
