Q & A

THE PURPOSE OF A CHAT ROOM (LIVE SESSION).
A Chat Room (Live Session) allows students to interact with each other over the computer in real time. To participate in a Chat Room all the participants must be on line at the same time. To participate in the Chat Rooms check the schedule below for the approriate date and time.  Then follow the "Guidelines for Participating in the Chat Rooms (Live Sessions)." Note that the Chat Rooms (Live Sessions) will be conducted using LearningSpace4.

SCHEDULE:
TOPICS AND DATES ARE TO BE DETERMINED.
CHATS WILL BE HELD 7:30-9:00 P.M. ON THE DATES DESIGNATED.
ALL TIMES ARE EASTERN DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME.

Ten extra-credit points will be awarded for each Chat Room in which the student substantially participates.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS OF A CHAT ROOM.

1. Students' name will be registered automatically.
2. Comments need not be lengthy but they should be substantive. You may want to enter your comments in pieces (i.e., clauses) instead of long comments all at once. This will let others know you are contributing and that they should look for more.
3. Students will earn ten (10) extra-credit points for substantially contributing to the Chat Room.
4. A substantial contribution is NOT merely logging on to the Chat Room and sitting there. There has to be ACTIVE participation.
5. The Chat Rooms are password protected but you know how hackers are; anyone might be able to read what you say. This includes someone from Bangladesh, the Vatican, or your parents, or your physician, or your sixth grade teacher. Speak honestly but not offensively.
6. Be challenging to everyone in the group --- as well as me!

Let me know immediately if you have any problems accessing the Chat Rooms.

GUIDELINES FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE CHAT ROOMS.

IF YOU USE A MAC COMPUTER OR A BROWSER OTHER THAN INTERNET EXPLORER, YOU WILL PROBABLY NOT BE ABLE TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE CHAT ROOMS.
